2010 was a whole lotta fun...hence the Disney picture!! I met a lot of new friends and got to see some new places! I hope 2011 will be bigger and better...I can't believe we're already a decade into 2000!

I was planning a trip to Costa Rica...weather wise it would be in the 90s with high high humidity and rain. I thought my current hiking shoes wouldn't be such a great idea. So I was looking at these shoes figuring it would be breathable and still able to withstand water and rainforest hiking. On my trip, my backpack never arrived to the airport, but luckily I wore these sandals on the plane and throughout my whole trip in Costa Rica.

They are great for hiking in wet weather. They were great for the natural hot springs and getting completely drenched. They were comfortable for walking around the city. Great all around hiking sandal.

My complaints, sort of vain of me to say, but they're not the prettiest and flattering of shoes. I'm not a big fan of the looks. Also I agree with other people's reviews of how rocks get in them and get annoying. They are not good for the beach or where small pebbles can get caught inside. Also they are pretty slow to dry. I got them completely wet at the hot springs and the next day they were still damp.

But other than the minor complaints I felt really lucky to have those shoes with me on the trip.

Avenue Q at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center

My first puppet musical...I know it sounds pretty cheesy and maybe even a bit childish. But this is not your ordinary sesame street puppet. This is more of the rated R sesame street puppets. I heard a lot of great things about the Avenue Q and so I jumped on the chance when it came to the Cerritos Performing Arts Center. I haven't been inside the CPAC since I was in high school, so it's been over 10 years. You can catch my review of CPAC on yelp.

I would suggest Avenue Q for people who just graduated college and have no idea what they want to do in life. That was ME! I completely fell in love with every single character in the play. I felt like they covered a wide array of different phases that one will go through in life. Just a fair warning...there will be puppet drinking and puppet sex! oh my!

So if your ever wondering whats your purpose in life...come watch Avenue Q and it will definitely give you a different presepective in life!! I loved it.

New Thing, Week 4: dineLA brings us to The Sky Room

I've never been to the Sky Room in Long Beach. This time my girlfriends and I took advantage LA dine week and the preset menus at the Sky Room.

Did you know that the Sky Room opened up in 1926? Which makes this fine establishment 84 years old! That just amazes me...now a days everything is closing down. So it's great to see survival in this harsh economy. Patrons of this dear restaurant are of the older generation. One lady I met in the elevator came with her family told us that she came to the Sky Room when it first open and she said it has changed a whole lot. Then she turned towards me and whispered, "it was better back then". She was so cute, it made my night more memorable because of her.

The Sky Room also has a rooftop bar that yields beautiful views of Long Beach. But you should really come here for excellent food and service. I will definitely come back for a special occasion.

New Thing, Week 3: San Francisco Bliss

A weekend trip to San Francisco with the girls brought lots and lots of new experiences for me. Even though I've been up to the bay area a bunch of times before, this was different because I had my girls with me and we had so much fun!

What can I say about the city...I love every part of it. From the culture to the architecture to the historic areas to the bums that roam the streets. San Francisco has nothing on LA ... except for maybe the sunshine and warmth.

New Thing, Week 2: Hiking in Irvine

For week 2 of my new year's resolution I went on my first hike in Orange County. It was a nice a little trail that lead up to a small little hilltop with a view of Irvine. The view at the top was not spectacular, however it wasn't too shabby for being in Irvine. But the first leg to get to the top was killer, damn I'm out of shape. Hope to explore more of Orange County and LA areas.

New Years Resolution 2010

I'm not even going to attempt the losing weight thing...it's almost impossible for me. I can try to eat healthier and exercise more. But that's not going to be my new years resolution. For 2010, I'm going to try what I did in 2005, which is to try something new every week. Doesn't matter what it is, as long as it's new. A new restaurant, a new movie, a new hike, new travels...endless possibilities.

So for WEEK 1 of the 2010 "Trying something new"

Red Bull No Limits: Travis Pastrana jumped the Long Beach Pier in a Subaru rally car.

I was looking for something I can take my little cousins (age 8-12) to enjoy for NYE. It would be a fun and sober NYE for me, which is all good. We ended up taking the Metro from Norwalk to Downtown Long Beach, which for rides after 9pm on NYE the metro was free!

We arrived right when Travis Pastrana was gonna jump. I honestly couldn't see much, his car went by so fast it was just a blur. But he made it safe and sound to the barge 270 ft away in the water. He's one crazy dude. The kids seem to like it so that was good. The event was actually pretty huge, they had motorcycle jumping and drifting exhibits. It was great for kids and me, cause I never really cared much for motorcross or rally car racing...but after coming to this event, I wouldn't mind going to other events like this.

So week 1 of something new: I saw a man drive a rally car over 250 ft in the air and landed on a barge in the ocean! And I discovered that I might like motorcross more than I thought.

What? 2009 is over!!!!!!!!

2009 is coming to an end...what the fuck, where did the time go? Last time I made a post on this blog was pretty much a year ago. For 2010, I'm going to try and revive this thing. Keep it alive. I always enjoy reading other people's blogs, I dunno why I let mine die.

Since my last blog was a review of concerts throughout the whole year...I guess I should start it off with another concert review for 2009...in no particular order:

Ozomatli at Club Nokia
Ozomatli never ever disappoints. They always throw a great show with lots of energy and great music. I always have a blast. I've been an OZO fan since HS...and I've probably seen them a good 5-6 times already and I will continue to go see them live whenever I get a chance because they are that good. I was actually more excited to check out Club Nokia...it's very much the same setup as House of Blues. I liked it...although beer was about $8!! Kill joy. Ozomatli however brought out the old school players that night along with the conga line they always do that ended outside on the stairs! It was great. I love them.

Lollapalooza 2009 at Grant Park, Chicago

Since I went last year, I was absolutely hooked, so I just had to go again this year. Luckily my best friend Zeela was willing to travel all the way to Chicago with me!! We had 3 days of madness.

Better Than Ezra at HOB, Anaheim
Last time I came to a BTE concert was seriously a good 10 years ago. I was so excited to see that they were playing again. I decided to get tickets, I was so surprised at the age group. I loved it, I felt like the young one there, because usually I feel like an old fart at most of the concerts I go to. But here...there was a much older crowd. Also it wasn't crowded at all, which means no stuffiness and I could breath. BTE played a lot of the old stuff, which was great!! And some of the new stuff, which I think they have a new album out, so I'll have to check it out. Overall, I enjoyed it. I will definitely try to catch them again.

Depeche Mode at Hollywood Bowl
I absolutely love Depeche Mode and this year was definitely the year of DM for me. I saw them three times. The Hollywood Bowl is always a treat for me to go watch a concert. Esepcially a band like DM. The only thing I was bummed out about was I just saw them at Lollapalooza and so it was almost the exact same set of songs in the same order. But I didn't care as much. I still love them!!

Depeche Mode at Hollywood Blvd for Jimmy Kimmel Live
Free show...I'm there. I came. I waited for a good 2 hours +. Then stood and waited for them to play. The cool part was that they closed down Hollywood Blvd and played in the middle of the street. I was hoping that they would play a little longer, but they only played a few songs. I like their new song, however it wasn't worth the wait, especially since I was going to see them twice later on in the year. WRONG!

Shiny Toy Guns at City Walk Universal Studios
I only have the first album...and I enjoy that one from time to time. But they played a free concert outside of Hard Rock Cafe at City Walk after the Superbowl. They were pretty good. I enjoyed watching them mostly because it was free. I wouldn't be paying $30 bucks to see them though.

KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas 2009 at Gibson Amphitheatre
I'll have to end my concert reviews on a high note here at KROQ Almost Acoustic xmas. So I just had to get tickets this year because MUSE was headlining night 2. I'm a big fan of muse ever since my sasquatch introduced me to them when we first dated. Actually our first concert together was acoustic christmas two years ago with MUSE. So 2 years later, we're still together and MUSE still kicks major ass.

I actually missed the following bands: White Rabbits, Caged the Elephant and Metric. I was bummed, but life goes on.

I actually thought The bravery was a bit disappointing. Didn't really enjoy it too much. But the band I was super surprised with was Phoenix!! They were so good. I'm a fan. Also Vampire Weekend, this is my second time seeing them, first time being at lolla and I thought second time around they were even better. Of course 311 was excellent and always fun to see. Slightly Stoopid got "high" marks for being the most lit when they played. Plus he was representin' SD to the fullest while wearing a Gates jersey! I too had my charger still on for the concert. Go Chargers.

But Muse...oh they were so good. They did the giant balloons with confetti again...you never get bored of that. I now think I have a huge crush on Matt Bellamy!! If you've never seen Muse live, you really need to check them out. It's truly amazing how 3 guys can make so much beautiful noise!!! I was such a fan, I actually bought a t-shirt!!! Fun stuff. I can't wait to see them again.

Coldplay at Verizon Amphitheatre
Coldplay...a band I've been waiting to see for a long time now and with the new album out I had to catch them when they were in town. So we bought tickets...all that was left were lawn seats, but they were still awesome. The highlight was when they moved the band up to the lawn area and played literally 20 feet away from me. It was so cool!!! Plus they did a tribute to the late Michael Jackson and played a version of Billy Jean. It was a nice moment. I'll try to post them up on youtube and add them to this blog when I get some time. But for now thats all I got.

Concert Reviews

I've been going to a lot of concerts this past year...I figured I would do a Concert review since it's now the end of the year.

KROQ Acoustic Christmas 2007 @ Gibson
I actually came here last year, it's going on again this today actually, but I wasn't able to get any tickets. So sad. I really like the line up for night 1: Offspring, STP!!

Anyways last year it was a good lineup as well. I went to night 2 and got to see:
Spoon - Such a great band, they were really good. I ended up buying their CD after the concert since I liked them so much.
Feist - Of course they played the song that you've been hearing on the ipod commercials. I actually have her CD as well and I love it. She was really great live, I give her 2 thumbs up.
The Shins - Good band, but not so memorable.
Silversun Pickups - A band I never really heard of at the time. I only recognized one song with radioplay. However, they were surprisingly great on stage. A lot of energy and overall just put on a fun show with the little time they had on stage.
Modest Mouse - I was really looking forward to this band. I love their music, even though I never understand what they are saying. They came out on stage with 2 full drum sets...it was crazy. I loved them. But they were cut short by a surprise guest which happen to be the Killers. They are always great live, so I was happy to see them.
Jimmy Eat World - I only know one song, and they played on for a long droning time. I was over it. I didn't like him.
MUSE - Can't go wrong ending with Muse. They were awesome. Probably one of the best bands I've seen live so far. For 3 skinny Brits, they totally made tons of noise. I also loved that the drummer wore a spiderman outfit. Random but funny. Great way to end the night.

Kelly Clarkson at Gibson

Gotta love Kelly. She was great. Although she didn't have anything too elaborate like most pop singers. She only wore one outfit, and I think she put on a vest over the outfit as one of her outfit changes. Sort of lame, but whatever. I love her songs, and she sounded really good. She had a Jon McLaughlin open for her and he wasn't too bad either. Played sort of the same sort of music except not as poppy and in a male voice. She sang her new stuff along with a lot of her old stuff. I would have to say the crowd was about 80% females and 20% male, and of the 20% male, about 98% were gay. You can't really beat belting out "Since You've Been Gone" with all the gays! It was so much fun.

Christina Aguilera, Pussycat Dolls, Danity Kane at Sports Arena, San Diego

I was excited to watch Christina but more than that she was paired with PCD and DK!! I don't think I could have asked for a better girly popstar lineup. I love DK, more than PCD, so I was excited. The sports arena wasn't too bad. We got there early enough to see DK perform, and they were good. I'm not sure if they were lip syncing or not, but either way I love them. They had a very short performance, and this could be because they only have one album and they are still pretty new. So they sort of did a montage of their whole album. I liked it. PCD surprised me because I thought they were all about the dance and performance, but they could sing! At least two of them could sing. I was very impressed. Plus they all look fantastic. Then finally Christina Aguilera...she's so good at what she does. She sang her little lungs out. I can't believe that someone that little could have a voice that big. Her stage was amazing, with carasol pony and many many dress changes. I would definitely see her again. Never disappointed if she's on stage.

Editors, Hot Hot Heat, Louis XIV at HOB, Anaheim

I came here randomly, I only knew Louis XIV seeing them many times down in San Diego since they are a local band down there. Hot Hot Heat I've seen once at Street Scene down in SD as well. I thought they were great back then. Seeing them here in a smaller venue was fun. It got pretty crowded, but a very nice crowd to share the night with. Most of them of course being Editors fans. I never heard of Editors before this...they are an English band, and really really great. The lead singer totally doesn't look like what I expected from hearing his voice. Plus he's pretty cute. But he was really into his music which was great...he stood on the piano...he jumped around on stage. It was a good concert. I would definitely see anyone of these bands again for sure.

One Republic at HOB, Anaheim

I honestly only knew the one song with Timbaland. My friend invited me to go watch them. They were filming the concert as well, so it was packed. You could barely move and barely see the stage. It was all ages, so that was weird. All these little teeny boppers were there. So I think perhaps I was a bit too old to go to this concert. But oh well...it was cheap and they weren't too bad. They had the stage mostly dark with red lights and candles. I didn't get it, but whatever. Everyone seemed to know the words to all the songs...I didn't...but it was all good. I don't think I would pay to see them again.
Greg Laswell, Northstar Sessions at Hotel Cafe

Matt Costa at OCPAC

I've been looking forward to this concert for the longest time. I've been wanting to see Matt Costa for the longest time and never had the chance. Bad timing I guess, until now! I was surprised with it being at the OCPAC because I've only gone to see plays and ballets here. But this was a smaller place, not their big auditorium. It was a nice little venue, I actually really liked it. The only thing I didn't like was the $8 beers and the crowd. I thought Matt was great as usual. I love his music, I always have from his first album. He played a wide range of his music and even some new stuff. He was really good, he busted out the harmonica...and it was fun. The crowd however was pretty boring. Even during "Miss Magnolia" no one really danced. I was dancing around because thats my favorite song...but it was only me and totally wasted white girl next to me dancing. There were a lot of teeny boppers again...and they were all dressed up, it was funny...come on now, this is a concert, not a club. But I guess thats an OC thing, to be boring and just look good and stand and listen. Not even some knee bending, toe tapping or hand slapping the leg to the beat??? Lame asses. But Matt was excellent. There was a band who played before him, but I don't remember who they were, they looked like some high school band that got together...didn't like them so much. I would definitely go see Matt again, but then again, I'm a big fan of his.

Jessica Fichot at Grand Ave. Festival

I came here for the Grand Ave. Festival. They had some little stages up and some people playing music. Right before I was about to leave, this girl goes up on stage. She reminded me of a little eskimo or something. She sang mostly french songs, but also sang some popular spanish songs and songs in english. Even though I had no idea what she was saying...I think one other song was in Russian or something...she was really great. Fun and interesting music. She had a great voice and she was just so cute. She played this tiny piano and also most of the songs she played her little squeezebox. Which is a totally underrated instrument, she should bring it back. I ended up buying her CD at the end of her performance. It's really not too bad. It's different, its truly eclectic. I know she plays at Hotel Cafe a lot, so perhaps I will catch her there one day.

Da Kah at Grand Ave. Festival

Free to go to during the festival. They actually performed in the Walt Disney Concert Hall...which is a place I've always wanted to check out since it opened. It's massive and is very impressive. Looks very similar to the gugeinheim in Spain. Same archetict. Beautiful structure. It was a lot smaller on the inside as I thought. But very comfortable seats. Da Kah was very interesting, it was pretty much a smashup of hip hop and classical music in one. They had a full out orchestra with some rappers and hip hop beats. It was interesting, very different. I like it. Very inspiring music and very passionate singers that they invited to sing with the orchestra.

Lollapolooza at Grant Park, Chicago

My first 3 day music festival, my first trip to Chicago...it was fantastic and I'm hooked. I hope to be able to attend this next year too, depending on the lineup. This year the lineup was amazing: Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead, Kanye West, Nine Inch Nails, Mark Ronson, Duffy, G.Love, Toadies, The Racantours, Gnarls Barkley, Bloc Party, Flogging Molly, Lupe Fiasco, MGMT...and so much more. I couldn't possibly write about all of them, because that would take up a lot of time!! Just know that if you ever get the chance to go to this...GO. Probably my most favorite band there was Rage...the crowd and the energy that they put out is crazy! I am happy that I got to see them...because they were gone and broke up for so long since I was in HS. Radiohead of course was great as usual. I almost cried at one point, because it was so good. They had the best light stage. Kanye was amazing for 1 man on stage playing in front of 250,000... he went crazy bananas up there. NIN sort of disappointing...they were okay. Mark Ronson was my surprise one...he was really good. Loved it loved it loved it! Can't wait till next year...wanna go??

Alicia Keys, Neyo, Jordin Sparks at Honda Center

We were actually a bit late for this concert. Parking was a bitch, we ended up paying $25 to park in Honda Center. I would suggest parking in the outside areas for $10 and walk, because you'll walk about the same distance from the Honda Center parking lot. The lines were long for everything, restrooms, beer, food. That park sucked. While we were waiting to get a beer, we ended up missing Jordin Sparks...thats okay with me...she sounded good. But we got in our seats in time to see Neyo. He was good, he was cute, and wore all white. He looked GOOD. Too bad my seats were so far away, I wouldn't mind seeing him up close and personal though. I love him. After Neyo...Alicia Keys came out...she was very good. She sang all her hit songs, and she sounds great live. She played her piano, and she had some good dancers too. I don't think I would pay money to see her again though, once was enough for me. But if you like her music, you should definitely check her out in person. You'll have a great time.

So You Think You Can Dance Tour at Honda Center

This wasn't necessarily a concert...but it's close enough, it's a traveling tour. I was obsessed over the show since it's been on. I went to see their tour last year at Nokia Theatre, and this time got a bigger group who was interested in seeing this season's tour. I liked the stage set up better than Alicia Keys, because it was too far away. This one was better...the dancers were great. Of course they were all little girls there with their moms'. It was cute though...people had shirts of their favorite dancers. They did all their dances from the show, including a bunch with Katie and Joshua. I had a great time watching them dance...I even tried to wait in the back to get a glimpse of them go to their tour buses. I know right, I'm so lame. I admit it. But I got tired of waiting so we just left. I can't wait till next season.

Madonna at Dodger Stadium

One of my favorite concerts by far...hello! it's MADONNA! I haven't been to Dodger Stadium for years...I just remember it being huge. But the traffic to get there was insane...the traffic started at the 101 going into the 110. It wasn't budging at all, and I had a feeling that all these people were going to see Madonna. Who would have thought that there would be this much traffic. Los Angeles definitely needs better public transportations especially when there is an event like this. Anyways...we finally got to the stadium almost 2 hours late. We ended up getting our seats upgraded which was really nice, which means she didn't sell out. She didn't have an opening band or anything...but she also didn't start till 10pm...perhaps she was also stuck in traffic. There were some famous people down by the pit that came to watch the show, we saw J.Lo and Lindsey Lohan. Once she finally started...everyone was super excited. She sang a lot of songs from her new album Hard Candy. She looked fantastic of course, and in one song, she featured Britney Spears and then Spears actually came out on stage just to say, "It's Britney Bitch!" So fun. I loved it. She looked decent but a bit underdressed...I wish she actually sang the song with Madonna. She played some new stuff, some old stuff, some classic stuff. It was high energy and her dancers kick some crazy ass. I think she lip sync most of the stuff, which was a bit disappointing. A highlight for me was her 4 minute song where Justin Timberlake came out to sing with her. Also she sang acapella to Evita!! She made a political statement with Obama winning the elections, but she was disappointed at prop 8 actually passing. With about 80% of the audience being gay...it was inspiring when she was talking about it. I was super tired by the end of the night and had to work the next morning...but it was totally worth it. I love her.

Celine Dion at Honda Center

I bought these tickets almost 10 months early. Since we tried so desperately to see her in Vegas before she left, and couldn't get tickets...we made sure we had tickets to her concert in November. I think just the anticipation to her concert was enough for me. Her opening act was a comedian from Vegas, he was so funny. I thought it was a good change, instead of having a singer. She came on...did her thing...she was wonderful. She looked good, she sounded fantastic. I was really surprised at how personal she was. She would talk to us...telling some stories and how she was feeling...I ate it up, loved all of it. She sang The Prayer with a recording of Andrea Bacelli, and I almost cried, it was so good. And of course she ended with My Heart Will Go On. I will never get tired of that song. I love Celine!

The Cure at Hollywood Bowl

The Cure is back!! My first time seeing the cure...I couldn't miss this because they were playing at my favorite place the Hollywood Bowl. We went there early and had a lovely picnic, the weather was great. I paid extra for padded seats...it's worth it. I think they were only 75 cents. You could bring your own stuff too. I brought extra blankets to curl up in when it gets cold. The Cure didn't have anyone open for them. All I gotta say is that Robert Smith gained a bunch of weight. I almost didn't recognize him, but he still has the same face and same hair cut. They played all their hits...which is a lot, so I had a great time singing along. They probably came out on stage for about 5 encores...such a great band to watch. Takes you back to those days when you were young!

An Evening with Julie Andrews at the Hollywood Bowl

I wasn't able to make the "Sound of Music Sing-a-long" this year, but we were able to catch an evening with Julie Andrews. It was interesting, because she did a lot of talking about her life and what she went through. She had guest singers which were broadway people who sang some of her old songs with her. They also sang on their own and she sang on her own too, but not the whole night. The second half was a narrated performance of a child's book she was putting out. It was interesting. I think she's such an icon, so I was in happyland just watching her sing. I was hoping she would sing more, but I understand that she had vocal surgery awhile ago which now hinders her from singing. But she still sounded great and looked good, she's a classy lady.

I'm sure I went to other concerts throughout the year that I just can't think of right now...but I'm looking forward to my first concert of 2009...John Legend...he has his new album out and I saw him on tour when he had Once Again out...so I'm excited!

John Legend's Evolver

So I just purchased John Legend's new album Evolver on itunes!! Ever since I've downloaded it, I've been listening to it non-stop. I'm a bit biased since I absolutely love the guy. But I really do think this is my favorite album from him. I liked the first one and the second one was okay...but this one is great! If you haven't heard it yet, you should give it a try.

He's going to perform sometime in January in the area...so I hope to catch it. He's so cute too...check him out and judge for yourself. He's hot. But not only does he has the looks...he's got the voice and talent. I love his new album!

Pinkberry's is yummy. I understand now why they call it crackberries...and I'm very excited that they are opening up one in Tustin right by my work. Yippie. Everyone should have a little pinkberrys in their life.

There was the whole controversey with Pinkberry's awhile ago with the FDA stating that it's not legally called fro-yo because they make it fresh at the store instead of frozen stuff sent over. Either way...I don't think I really care how they make it as long as they make it because it's yum. The only downside is that it's a bit pricey for Fro-Yo. And I do miss all the different flavors of frozen yogurt at the Scripps Green Hospital which you can buy by weight!

Speed Dating Jitters

My last adventure was going on a speed dating event with my friends. I can't believe that I went through it. I was so nervous, I think the first guy I talked to, I was so nervous that my hands were shaking. Not very good. So I ended up talking to 10 something guys...most of the guys were very pleasant to talk to, and a few I know exactly why they are single...which leads me to think, perhaps some of them think the same about me. The worst part of the whole thing is at the end you need to find out if you have any matches...and my worst fear is that I will have no matches at all. So far...my fear has come true. AHHHHH!!! In the beginning my outlook was determined to find myself a man...or at least some friends to hang out with. But now I'm becoming more and more discouraged. We'll see...I'm not going to give up, but I'm definitely not as confident anymore. I think I'll be hitting the gym more often...that might help.

Other than that...other news...I haven't posted for a long while so here's what happened.

1. I got a job at Medtronics, Inc. Microbiology lab.

2. I am experiencing a lot of what Los Angeles has to offer, like "Sing A Long Sound of Music" at the Hollywood Bowl.

3. I went to vegas for my birthday which was the best vegas birthday trip ever!!

4. Watched Transformers, which I truly think was the best movie I've seen this year!! It was completely surreal to see Optimus Prime on the big screen.

5. My wonderful San Diego trip, which I was sad to see Uli leave, but got pretty piss drunk that weekend, so it was good times.

So I've moved from San Diego and I'm back in Los Angeles...my little of Cerritos to be exact. It isn't so bad so far. But since I've moved back, I really haven't been home since I've been traveling. I just came back from my trip to Miami, Cozymel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. And then tomorrow I am leaving on a plane to go to Korea, Thailand and Laos. I'm excited and stressed at the same time.

I miss San Diego...and I miss everyone there!! The last month in SD was fun...filled with partying and finishing up SD tour I. I think there will be one more weekend for SD tour II. I'll post some pics of everything. And when I come back from my asia trip in a month I'll post more pics of that.

Today I watched Borat and it was super funny. I would definitely recommend it to everyone. Not only is it funny and some scenes just almost unbearable to watch...but its interesting on all the aspects that he chooses to touch upon with stereotypes in the US. It's almost embarrassing at moments to watch it and be an American...and to think that some people in the US actually still think so backwards. But then again, we did RE-elect George W. So I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Go watch the movie!! Will you have sexy time with me??

The Non-Slutty Outfit

So this past halloween weekend...I had so much fun. It's been a long time since I've had that much fun and mainly I had good ol' alcohol to thank for that. I haven't really been partying so much or drinking as much, not like back in the days. So on Saturday since I didn't have to drive...I figured why not just live it up a bit. And then I discovered about 7 drinks later...I was completely wasted. The best part of the night was the fact that we got to go clubbing downtown in tennis shoes...because we were runners for halloween, although everyone kept on calling us "jazzercisers". I didn't care...I danced the night away in my tennis shoes and walked back to the car with pain-free feet! yeah! So...our outfit was so not slutty...compared to all the other girls downtown who were ho'd up...we kept it real. And we made a workout video!! Let's Get Physical!!

My first Swan Lake Ballet

This past weekend the something "new" that I did was to watch my first ballet ever. Although when I was younger I took ballet and tap dancing, I remember I was in a few recitals. I did like ballet, I just hated wearing those tights and leotards, you see, I wasn't the skinniest of kids growing up, so wearing those things didn't flatter me much. I always felt insecure, and I think if I were to wear the same outfit now at 26, I'd still feel the same way...I am so not a ballerina. But anyways, off subject...the ballet...it was very good. We watched the Kirov Ballet perform Swan Lake. They were performing at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, which has been remodeled into a very beautiful concert hall...I remember when I was younger going there for some plays, and it wasn't as nice, but now its really amazing. I loved it. It was different, the performance plus the live orchestra, it was good. Plus I'd have to say those guys with the tights...they have very muscular legs and nice butts. And the ballerinas, especially the one who plays odelle, she was amazing with her turns and jumps and spins all on her toes. I couldn't believe it.

Also on a small sidenote...I watched The Prestige this weekend...Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale = good combo. Great movie. Lots of twist and turns...loved it.

Santa Ana brings beautiful Sunsets

Unfortunately I am still at work. But the very cool part about being at work late during the fall season is to see the very pretty sunsets. I am lucky to have probably the best view anyone can ask for at my work. Looking out I see the N.Torrey Pines Golf Course and then the cliffs straight into the ocean. It truly is breathtaking and something I will miss a whole lot when I leave. The Santa Ana winds came in today bringing with it dry weather, but also blowing out a lot of the haziness we get along the coast, making today a beautiful and clear day at the beach. Over the horizon I can see an island popping out of the ocean and the sky is a bright pink/orange. I'll have to take a picture and post it on here soon. But I just sat there and watched the sunset with my co-workers, it's so pretty. During the Summer time I'm not here late enough for the sunsets, its during this time in the fall when I'm still at work where I can enjoy my sunsets again.

Trying something new

I started thinking about life in general and how to make it more exciting. Sometimes you go through some stressful times with working too much...that you don't get to enjoy life as much. Don't get me wrong, I love my work and I love my co-workers, they make work fun. However, sometimes I feel like I have no time to enjoy the little things in life.
I've decided a few weeks ago that I would at least try something new once a week. So far, its worked out pretty well, and I've learned and done a lot of new things that I usually wouldn't have. I went to a new concert, met new people, and ate new things. Some I liked, some I didn't, but at least I can say that I tried it. It's not a big change in life, but it's something. Possibly I would like to continue this till the end of the year and perhaps onto the next year.
I've gone and seen new bands such as Flogging Molly, Bedouin Soundclash, Greg Laswell, and Demetri Martin.
I've made some new friends.
I tried eating kiwi for the first time...yum.
Tonight I'll try a new bar downtown...The Side Bar. We'll see if its any good.

Demetri Martin opened up his comedy tour in San Diego last Thursday. I have never seen him in person or his shows, but I saw a clip of him on Comedy Central and I thought he was hilarious. So...I really wanted to catch him on his tour "These are Jokes". I am so glad that I was able to go, because he's so funny. I would highly recommend him to anyone out there. And a plus of the evening was that I also got to meet Greg Laswell. It was weird timing because I just had a poll to figure out how old he is...and then I end up meeting him at Demetri Martin's show. Crazy. Anyways...he's even cuter in person and so nice. I was super nervous though, because I think he probably thinks I'm some weird stalker fan or something. Anyways...I took a picture with him...mostly because my co-worker wouldn't believe me if I didn't have proof. I was very excited. very cute and talented Greg Laswell. If you haven't heard of him...go get his album, its worth it.

I am starting to listen to different music now...when I was little I usually just listened to what my parents listened to...The Beatles, BeeGees, Rod Stewart, and Lionel Richie. Then in high school I mostly listened to Sublime, HomeGrown, Unwritten Law, 311, Bush and Blink182. College I listened to a lot of pop and hip hop...Ricky Martin, Shakira, Nsync, Britney Spears, and 80's. Now...I pretty much listen and will try anything. I started getting into more dance/electronic music due to the influences of a couple of friends and after lovefest how can you not like that music. And now I'm getting into a lot of folky music...currently I am loving Matt Costa...I don't think there is one song that I don't like on his album. It's so good. Other small artists that you might want to try are Joshua Radin, Rufus Wainwright, Snow Patrol, Turin Brakes, Athlete, Imogen Heap, Jump Little Children, and Priscilla Ahn. It's a bit different from what I'm used to, but if your in the mood for something different, I would definitely try some of these artist. They are new to me and all in my ipod...love them. Try something new.

This past weekend I went to see Bedouin Soundclash who was playing with Flogging Molly. I was mostly there to see Bedouin and my friend Leina was mostly there to see Flogging Molly. It was so much fun...we drove all the way up to Irvine just to check them out. I am a huge fan of Bedouin but have never seen them live. I thought they were really great, but I think they should have played a little longer...it was too short. Then Flogging Molly came up...so great!! They are so good live. Too much energy and the crowd went crazy...I saw the biggest mosh pit ever, and it was insane! They are definitely a band I would go back to see. Awhile back I also went to an Ozomatli concert. I've seen Ozomatli several times already, a few at UCSD and some up in LA. I absolutely love them, one of my most favorite bands, especially live. They are so much fun and its all positive music which makes them so good live. I haven't seen them for a long time, so it was great to see them again. Plus they are coming out with a new album soon. I'm excited. A few weeks ago I also went to check out Greg Laswell at the Belly Up. His music is on the mellow side. He was also very good live. If you could check him out, I would definitely recommend it. Plus the guy is super cute. Here's a picture of him...how old do you think he is...because I made a bet with my co-worker and I can't seem to find out how old he is...so I'm taking a poll and averaging it and whoever is closer wins the bet. Some time to breath

It's Friday night! I've been so busy lately...even on the weekends I just don't have time to relax. Finally I decided to take it a bit easy and just plan a Friday night at home catching up on all the fall shows on TV that I've recorded. I'm debating on getting DVR...I think for me its well worth it. We'll see...or tivo...

I think I'll actually fall asleep early tonight and then wake up for a fun filled Saturday...including work...run...swim...and heading up to Irvine for a Flogging Molly and Bedouin Soundclash concert. I'm mostly there to see Bedouin...I've never seen them live before but I love their album and music and I've heard that they are great live! I'm excited. Sunday...driving back up to LA...to spend some time with my Dad.

October 5th...there will be a rally to drive the Bush regime out. Of course I don't think it will ever happen, we'll just have to do a countdown till 2008. I can't wait. But it seems like so far away. I hope to attend the rally down in San Diego. I've never really particpated in anything like this, but I think its important. I guess you could say I'm a bit more left wing than right wing. Almost everything that Bush presents, I completely disagree. The fact that he won the second election truly blew my mind. I was so sad. Please if you can make this rally...GO...let me know if you want to check it out!!

Heading to the Frisco Bay

This past weekend I went up to San Francisco. It was so nice...such a refreshing eye opening trip to some things new and some things old. Its been really stressful for me here in San Diego, so I was really looking forward to get away. I had a list of what I wanted to do up in the city:
1. Alcatraz (including the audio tour)
2. Ansel Adams Center for Photography
3. Chinatown (Moon Festival)
4. Fisherman's Wharf
5. Ghiradelli Square
6. Golden Gate Bridge
7. Pier 39
8. Union Square
9. SF Museum of Modern Art
10. Lovefest
I took Friday off of work and flew up to San Jose, rented a car and drove up to San Francisco. We spent the whole day at Fisherman's Wharf to do the touristy thing. I got to eat at Pier 39 (check) and we made reservations for Alcatraz (check). I highly recommend doing the audio tour...it was super fun. I've been up to the city so many times and never did go to alcatraz, so I just had to go this time. I loved it. Then we just walked around Fisherman's Wharf (check) and watched the coolest musical, Menopause the Musical. It was so much fun. I haven't laughed that much for a long time. Then we drove back to San Jose to stay at my friend's place. Thanks Kristina!!

Saturday...we went to LoveFest (check). This was definitely something different. I'm not so into electronic dance music, but I really loved it!! The atmosphere was great, the energy was fun and the music was excellent. There were lots of people dressed up, I never saw so many naked men, fuzzy furry pants, and wigs in my life. Next year I'm definitely dressing up. I think the bunny outfit was my favorite!! Then we headed over to chinatown for the moon festival (check). Then we headed over to Ghiradelli Square (check) for yummy ice cream, chocolates, and coffee. I was able to meet up with some more good friends and it was so nice...it made me really miss them.

Sunday...went back up to San Francisco for breakfast and then shopping at Union Square (check). I really do like the shopping and all the stores especially the H & M store!! They definitely need to bring one down to SD. I know they are opening up one in Beverly Hills and Pasadena! Then we hit the 7 story Macy's, FCUK, Old Navy, and Urban outfitters. Then it was on my way home to LAX. On the ride back I ran into an old friend from high school. What a small world.

So Overall I give SF two thumbs up...I wouldn't mind living up there. Public transportation is great, always something going on, liberal thinking, love the city, and there is so much culture!! Love it. So of the 10 things I wanted to do...I did 7 out of 10...not bad. I can't wait to go back up. Thanks to all my friends up there for taking some time to play with me!!

Boys are Stupid

I completely sound like a little high school girl ... "Boys are stupid" ... But seriously, I just don't get them. I don't think I'll ever understand guys. It's true that women are from venus and Men are from Mars. I figured that I'm a grown adult, and I would be able to talk to guys in a mature and grownup manner, however that is not the case. Especially if I like the guy or think he's cute. I get too nervous. Maybe its just me...I see tons of girls out there with guys...and I always wonder to myself...why can't I get a guy?? Whats wrong with me??? But after talking to a bunch of girlfriends...I've realized that its not me...and the question that I ask myself is always, "what is with boys?? and why do they have to be so stupid??" The thing is...I've broken up with my ex-boyfriend now for about a year and half...thats plenty of time to get over him and move onto the next guy. I think I pretty much have the getting over him part down...but just haven't found the next guy part yet. After being with my ex for 4 years...it was pretty hard to get back into the singles scene again. And dating...thats so difficult...I've been on a few dates since the breakup and each one has gone pretty bad at one point or another...
1. Belly rubbing guy...some guy who just wanted to rub bellies...gross.
2. Coupon guy...we went to Rubios and he used a coupon on a value meal...plus he had no opinions of his own and didn't vote during the presidential elections...I'm not very political, but please VOTE!!
3. Wierd kiss and leave guy...I went out with this guy a couple of times, and the last time I saw him, I said goodbye, went for a hug, and got a smack on the lips type kiss from him and then he walked away...no goodbye...just an awkward moment for me.
So...as you can see, its just been a struggle for me to find someone decent. But I did meet a couple of really nice guys from the whole dilemma...some that I would consider good friends now. But the wierdest guy of all...is this dude from the pool...very cute guy, and I've had a crush on him since the first time I saw him at the swimming pool. And we talk a whole lot all the time, for hours whenever I saw him...so the whole confusion thing for me is that...we've been out together several times and everytime we go out, he pays for everything...and he's super sweet and we always have great conversation...but then this last time I went to the pool...nothing...no hello...no goodbye...no talking...it was really wierd and I felt so awkward. Maybe he's just super busy...and found some other girl...I have no idea...but total confusing for me. And so I've decided that I am giving up on boys...in general!! I'm definitely still going out keeping my options open...and just have fun. But I'm not going to be expecting much from the opposite sex...I think maybe my expectations are too high...and my standards are too high, I'm not perfect so I shouldn't expect boys to be perfect either...but the thing is...I really don't ask for much and I'm not that picky...but yet I still get stuck with the wierd guys!! AHHHHHH...the frustration!!

Finally, Music that I love!!

I'd have to say that I love music of all types. It's always hard to pick a favorite type of music. Depending on what mood I'm in, I'll enjoy a little jazz or hip hop or R&B. But, I just came back from an Ozomatli concert and I forgot how wonderful live music can be sometimes. I've always liked Ozomatli back in the days in high school and I went to see them perform back in the days all the time. I know they opened up for Carlos Santana and the music is excellent. I think that every band member in Ozo brings something different and unique to the table and it blends together so well. Needless to say, the concert down in San Diego was energetic and positive as usual. I forgot how good they were, I haven't seen them play since they came out with Street Signs. I'm excited for the new album and can't wait to hear that. I was so happy they played a lot of the old stuff as well and did the usual congo line. I think the last time I saw them play was at UCSD for the protests that were going on. I went through a phase in college where I went to a lot of concerts...but then I just sort of ran out of money and stopped going. I think I'm going to get back into going to more live concerts. I went and saw Jewel and Rob Thomas for free the other day and that was pretty good too. Both are great live. I missed out on Street Scene this year...it was way too expensive for me. But I think my next performance I would like to see live is little Matt Costa...you can see his video below. I absolutely love his music. So good. And I know Bedouin Soundclash is playing with Flogging Molly at UCI at the end of September...anyone interested?? I wanna see them live too!! Oh and my lil' sis told me that the Spice Girls are planning to have a reunion tour...I wanna see them. And I might go see Mariah Carey. I know that Justin Timberlakes tour sold out in negative seconds before it was open to the public to sell. Not fair. I told you I listen to all music, I even like me some pop from time to time. After all if anyone is going to bring sexy back I'm glad its Justin Timberlake and not Jimmy Buffet or Lou Reeds. Anyways...thats my whole thang on the music scene.

I've watched a bunch of movies recently...both in the theatre and also on DVD. And here is a recap of what I think about each movie...I think the last time I mentioned a movie in my blog was for Superman which I loved...and since then I've also loved:
1. Pirates: Great movie...I ended up watching it opening day...not knowing that they have such a huge fan following. We had to wait in line for a really long time!! But the movie was soooooo good. I think I liked the first one better and the only complaint that I had with the movie was the grossness of the sea-people/monsters on DavyJone's ship...and also the gross looking octopus creature!! Ewww. But other than that...it was filled with adventure and I loved the ending, can't wait till the third one comes out!! Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrows = Hilarious and adventurous movie.
2. Step Up: Now...I only liked this movie because I love to dance and I love these teeny bopper type of movies. This movie was extremely cheesy with a plot that has been done so many times...but I loved it anyways!! The guy in this movie is absolutely HOT...Channing Tatum. Both actors were okay in the acting ability part...but the dancing was good and it was overall a feel good type of movie. Cheesy + Predictable + Hot guy dancing = Fun movie to watch.
3. Little Miss Sunshine: Probably one of the best movies I've watched in a long time...absolutely cracked up laughing almost throughout the whole movie. Sort of a dark comedy genre...but more comedy than dark. Don't want to give too much away, but each character in this dysfunctional family are great. At the end your just happy that every family...no matter what they go through and no matter how wacky they are...they are still family and its always good to have family. Plus the little girl in the movie is so adorable...she cracks me up. Little girl beauty pageants = BAD, Stripper dancing = GOOD.

And now the movies I watched on DVD:
1. She's the Man: Another teeny bopper movie, and the only reason I watched it, is because Channing Tatum is in it, the guy from Step Up. This movie was funny...and Amanda Bynes is real good in it. Channing Tatum + Soccer=Hot guy, so who cares, just watch the movie.
2. Love Jones: Good movie...about love...about relationship...how dumb boys are...how stubborn girls could be...I don't think I'd watch it again.
3. Chasing Papi: I watched this one also because of the actor in it...Eduardo something...he's hot. But I totally ended up falling for the three girls in it...they are so funny. You don't really have to be latino to understand or relate to the characters... its funny. Plus the girl from Pussycat dolls is in it...The Real Miss Puerto Rico.
4. Hustle and Flow: I borrowed this one from Heidi...thanks Heidi! It was an interesting movie. Not really my type of movie to watch...but I don't think it was bad at all. Its not easy being a pimp.
5. Pretty Persuasion: Extremely dark comedy...a bit too dark for me and more dark than comedy. It's interesting though, but maybe too much for me...I didn't seem to get it as much, so if anyone has seen this movie...please give me some more insight?? Don't want to ruin it for people who haven't seen it...but did you think she only did it for revenge of the boy? or was it also part of the death of her brother? or both or just to be famous? I don't get it.

Okay...thats my movie review!! thats all I've seen so far in the past month...which I'd have to say is a lot for me. GO WATCH LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE...its the best movie!

My friend has the cutest little maltese doggy...luggi!! He's so cute. And she had the cutest picture of him asleep spooning a little stuffed animal. It just goes to show that everyone enjoys a little spooning from time to time, even the doggies. I would have to say its always fun to cuddle, especially if its with someone or something soft and warm like in luggi's case.

This weekend I had such a great time with my friends coming down to san diego from LA. One good reason for staying in San Diego is for good food. I love how there are so many little great places to eat down here. I've discovered a lot of little yummy places, and its always fun to find new foods to eat. We discovered a new place for breakfast...and they have the best pancakes...especially the APPLE PANCAKES!! So yummy...its called, Richard Walker's Pancake House. I would have to say everything we had there was good...along with the apple pancakes...we had the omelets...also very yummy and crunchy...and the bacon pancakes...and they have great bacon. Although the hash browns were just okay!! I would have to say if your ever in town...and you ever want good breakfast!! It's the best.

I know this might be super dorky and nerdy...but I do love the movie Superman Returns. I think all the actors did a good job and the man who plays Superman...Brandon Routh is so damn HOT!!! I watched it on opening night and absolutely fell in love with Clark Kent...and then this past weekend I went to watch it at the IMAX theatre in 3D!! And it was even better than the first time. He ws so cute and upclose and personal. I would give the movie two thumbs up and a hip hip horray for Brandon Routh!! Thanks for the picture Hidi.

I went to the Del Mar Fair the a couple of weekends ago...its such a yummy eating time for me where I can pig out on fried food...we started off with a turkey leg, fried zuchinni, fried onion rings, australian potatoes, sweet potatoes...then we headed over to the beer tasting and had five cups of different beers...so my tummy felt like a waterbed...then continued with a gyro and topped it off with some jerky and fried oreos. I pretty much felt ill after awhile...but hey thats what I do when I go to the fair...and we saw a pig show...pigs are smart!! baaa-raaam-youuuu.

Around the world everyone is watching the World Cup in Germany. Every other country is obsessed over it, my Dad in Thailand said people don't even sleep around there to watch the games. But good ol' U.S. of A, no one really watches it so much here. Soccer isn't so big here...and I never really watch any games besides the World Cup matches, and even this year I only watched a few games...Italy vs. USA, Ghana vs. Cze, Portugal vs. England, and USA vs. Ghana. All pretty exciting games. But I have found a new reason for watching the games and it has to do with those fine young men kicking that ball around. And one fine young man Cristiano Ronaldo...boy is he cute...he plays for Manchester United and currently playing in the World Cup for Portugal. Can you blame a girl for watching a game that he is in??? NO!!! He's cute. Take a look! He's my new boy crush.

Company Picnic Crashers

This past weekend I went rollerblading with a friend of mine at Mission Bay/PB...(thanks Ryan for a great workout!)What I thought would only be an hour or so outing became about a 3 or 4 hour outing with no sun block on me except my face...so I have my second sunburn in my life!! It hurts, but it will go away soon. I found out that Mission Bay and Pacific is actually very very large. It was a really pretty day and tons of people out at the beach. Lots of guys with their shirts off and funny nipples. Anyways...as we are rollerblading...we find a company picnic going on... with the help of Ryan's encouragement we took off our rollerblades tucked them under a bench and headed into the picnic...we ended up getting free lunch which included BBQ, ice cream and cookies, and drinks! Pretty sweet. Then continued on with our rollerblading adventures! I think I will try to crash every company picnic I see for now on...just to see which company has the better food.

The other night I went with a couple of girlfriends to BJ's for what??? The most yummiest of all...THE PIZOOKIE!! It is a creation that I can't get enough of...a freshly baked cookie topped with vanilla bean ice cream. I've decided that I'm having the pizookie for my wedding cake instead of an actual cake. I figured from all the weddings I've been to, no one really cares about the cake as much...and cake is always my favorite part. So now for my wedding if I ever have one...it will be a pizookie! I've always had the chocolate chuck pizookie, but recently discovered that the white chocolate macadamia one is much better...I'll have to try thte peanut butter one next. Oh the vegas trip ... I finally retired my favorite black strappy going out shoes! I was so sad...but I think it was time for her to hit the can, the trash can that is. I've had these shoes since 1999, and I love them for the following reasons:
1) It matches anything because its black
2) It has a nice thick heal so I don't fall
3) It makes me taller
4) It has velcro for the lazy people like me
5) It is super duper comfortable, and I can dance all night in them
Now I am black-shoe less, and I've been going shopping to find new black strappy shoes, but have not found one yet...so my searching continues.

Oh I am so sad that I no longer have my shoes!!

Oh how I love vegas!!! This past weekend was my TwentySexy Birthday in Vegas. I think everything went perfect!! Friday night we went to Jimmy Buffet's MargaritaVille!! Love that place...they have the best mango daquari, yummy yum yum, and the food was pretty good too. Friday night also included...going out to the PURE at Ceaser's Palace...highlights include: seeing DJ AM, drinking beer, getting drunk, spilling drinks, and dancing the night away.
Saturday was my favorite...highlights include: losing $60 gambling, Bellagio Buffet, Zumanity at NYNY hotel (it is not a sex show, but rather a show of open sexuality, LOVED IT), more beer, Amarula, Midori Sours, My buddy winning the jackpot at Bellagio --> VIP treatment into the LIGHT, dancing, drinking some more, and dancing the night away.
Sunday --> woke up...showered...ate at 'wichcraft sandwiches owned by Chef Tom Coliccio from Top Chef!! YUMMY if your ever at the MGM grand you gotta get a sandwich there. Rest of the day was spent in traffic heading home to LA!!
It was the best birthday ever!! Thank you to my girls who made it so much fun...Thanks Zeela, Heidi, Kay, and Cindy!!

What are Happy Hippos

I had a bet with my co-worker: I couldn't eat any sweets, candies, or chips for one month!! I made it...yippee. I can now eat chocolate, and what I ate first was ice cream...seriously something I can't live without. But now I can eat my Happy Hippos which have been sitting on my desk for the past two weeks. These are lovely wafers with hazelnut chocolate cream inside but its shapped like a hippo...a happy one!
I love them and I can't seem to find any here in the states, so whenever my german co-worker's girlfriend comes to visit or if he goes back to Germany he brings some...boy are they delicious!

A Blog...I have a Blog!

My first blog entry...I've been inspired by my friend Curtis who is currently studying Chinese in the most appropriate place, you guessed it, CHINA. Anyways...I haven't really visited his site for a long while, and then went on to see how he was doing. He always has the coolest things up there. And its pretty interesting and a good way to experience China in his eyes. But anyways...I just know this blog thing will take up some time, so when I get bored at work...is probably when I'll be filling in whats going on.

So...Welcome...to my everyday thoughts. Lately the main thing that has been bothering me are gas prices...WTF...it's been getting pretty bad here in San Diego. Gas is now at least $3.50 a gallon. Which to me is really cutting into my small and tight budget. I've decided to do a carpool at work and also thinking of buying a bike to bike around nearby places. I know a couple of my friends from back home that already bought bikes for this reason. What also sucks here in Southern California is the public transportation. We really have no other option than to drive to places. I wish we had some sort of metro system here in San Diego, but I guess everything is too widespread. Hopefully the gas prices will drop...but looking at who we have as president...I highly doubt it.
